Downtown Denver is full of fun neighborhoods to visit, and the RiNo District is one of our favorites! RiNo is short for “River North Art District,” which perfectly describes the feel- lively and contemporary. As you walk around you’ll see many different murals that make great photo spots. It also has plenty of options for shopping, eating, and drinking all within walking distance. We’ll highlight some of our favorite spots, but with so many options, you’ll never run out of places to try!
Shopping
We are partial to plant shopping so that’s what we focused on. There are also many small boutique shops for clothes, home décor, and more!
Reroot
Reroot is a small boutique plant store and it’s complete plant heaven. While it is small, it is packed full of so many beautiful plants. If you follow them on Instagram you can get a preview of what’s currently in stock. They usually have a nice selection of cacti and succulents, and many varieties of tropical plants like hoya, calathea, philodendron, and more! They also sometimes have limited stock of rare plants. Additionally, they offer gorgeous pots made by local artisans and aromatic shower bouquets that give any shower a spa-like feeling. Their prices are very competitive and their staff is friendly. This puts Reroot at the top of our list for plant stores in Denver, let alone just the RiNo District!
If you're a Denver local, don't forget to grab a punch card! After buying 10 plants you can get a 4 inch plant for free!! #travellikealocal
Birdsall & Co
Just a few blocks from Reroot is Birdsall & Co, a slightly larger boutique plant store. They have a loft full of different kinds of Sansevieria and pots. On the main floor you’ll find a lot of variety with only one or two in stock of many of the plant options. They also have some larger plants and their prices are also pretty affordable.
Eating
The RiNo district has lots of restaurant options, and also breweries with food. We loved snacking as we went from place to place and then had a proper meal at a restaurant, so keep reading to find out about our favorites.
The Preservery
We ate dinner at the Preservery and loved it! It has indoor and outdoor dining available in an industrial style space. As a vegetarian, I was very pleased that they had fried cauliflower on the menu and it was one of the best I have ever had #veryveggie! It came with a couple different sauces and with such a large portion, it was also a crowd pleaser. Others in our party loved their mac and cheese and pulled pork, so you really can’t go wrong with their comfort food options!
10 Barrel Brewing Co
We’re both suckers for some good fries, and 10 Barrel’s did not disappoint! Their truffle fries with parmesan cheese were amazingly delicious and crispy, and you can’t go wrong pairing them with beer. They also had a full menu of appetizers and entrées. We drank the Jitterbug lemon sour, and the Haymaker which is a weizenbock that taste like banana bread. If you go with a group they have a flight of 10 beers, so you can try a lot of different beers on tap in one visit. We enjoyed amazing views sitting on the rooftop patio but they also had plenty of indoor seating.
Drinking
One thing that makes the RiNo district so fun is the nightlife. At night Larimer Street, with many of the bars and breweries on it, is closed off to traffic, so you can walk from place to place safely. Restaurants also set-up outdoor seating on the street. There is also something for everyone- casual places to drink wine, places with live music, places to watch live sports, and options with DJ’s as the life of the party.
Stem Ciders
I love a good cider, and this place did not disappoint! We got a cider flight including a dry, pear, hibiscus, and a lavender flavored cider. All of them were amazing! They also had a hibiscus pear cider slushy that was so satisfying on a hot day. Paired with their pretzels, we loved Stem Ciders!
14er Brewing
We always love to get a flight so we can try out the different options, especially when they have such an amazing menu. 14er offers tons of different seltzers, sours, and of course many varieties of beers from cream ales to IPAs to nitros. They serve their flights in a cool mountain-shaped tray to represent the Colorado mountains.
Our Mutual Friend Brewery
You can’t miss OMF when walking down Larimer Street. It is painted with bright hues of blues, reds, and yellows. They have outdoor seating with string lights that give it a nice ambiance. We stopped at OMF and were able to order and pay completely contactless using QR codes.
These are just some of the amazing places you can check out in the RiNo District in Denver! If you are visiting, we definitely recommend adding this area to your itinerary for an evening. There’s really no need to plan ahead too much- just park your car (free street parking), and head out on foot. Surely you’ll enjoy hopping from place to place around RiNo!
