General Tips

  • Have a small bag of cash stored in your glove box or suitcase in case you lose your debit/credit cards, or come across a toll that is cash only

  • Pack photocopies of important ID’s in case they get lost (especially when traveling internationally)

  • Notify your bank before your trip to avoid you card being declined

  • The best way to learn about a place is on foot! Walk around the city you’re in to get a better lay of the land and a feel for the vibe. One way to do this is to look up murals around the city you’re going to. It will give you great photo opportunities, but also allow you to explore more along the way

  • The best time to explore is in the morning before a lot of people are out. We love going out to walk around cities at 8 or 9 am so we have the whole place to ourselves

  • If you’re not driving to your destination, try to limit how much you pack to a carry on and personal item. You’ll find you don’t need as much stuff as you think, and then thank yourself for how easy it is to navigate the airport, train, taxis, etc. (I literally moved to Morocco with just a suitcase, hiking backpack, and duffel bag. In hindsight, I still way over-packed and it made the days of travel to get there quite challenging)

  • When traveling internationally, make sure there is still 6 months before your passport is expired and check visa requirements, as every country’s rules are different
