Traveling with a Dog
-
Pick one chain of hotels that allows animals that way you can earn rewards (I use Wyndham)
-
Use a collapsible water bowl for the car ride, it takes up very little space
-
Use a harness with a seatbelt
-
They can’t crawl up and distract the driver
-
They won’t be able to get out of the car until you have their leash back on them
-
-
Use a travel food bag for short trips, ours holds 12 cups of food, so enough for 3 days
-
Take an extra water bottle that you can fill at rest stops, use this to fill the collapsible bowl
-
Leave the car running with your pet in it during the winter, because your car acts as a refrigerator and will get too cold inside very quickly
-
Bring a blanket they use from home so your dog can have familiar smells if they are nervous riding in the car or when they are left in the car alone
-
Keep their tags on them, and their microchip information up to date in case they run off from being in an unfamiliar area
-
If you forget a dog bowl, or leave it in the car, you can use the throw away coffee cups that most hotel rooms have for the night
-
Bring a copy of your dogs shot records
